Speaking after the decision, Andrew Tyrie MP has said:
“I am extremely disappointed that the A27 at Chichester has not been considered for improvement in the next spending review period after 2015.
As everybody who lives here will know, and particularly everyone in the manhood, the A27 has a high turnover at peak times.
I am going to raise this again with Justine Greening MP, the Secretary of State for Transport, and try to get them to reconsider.”
Mike Penning, the Roads Minister, has announced that development work will start on six major road schemes across the country. The work will generate proposals for each scheme so that they are in a position to be considered for delivery in the early stages of the next spending review period (post 2015).
The A27 at Chichester was not one of those road schemes selected. This means that the necessary development work may not be carried out in time for delivery after 2015.
