Chichester MP Andrew Tyrie visited one of the area’s rapidly expanding businesses. DW Plastics Ltd extrudes plastic into a wide range of practical products at its premises on Terminus Road Industrial Estate.
Rapid growth over the last three years has seen a 60% increase in turnover to £4M, with a corresponding increase in the number of employees.
As Managing Director Will Davis showed Mr Tyrie around the factory he said that this trend looks set to continue. “We expect turnover to grow by a further 20% over the next couple of years. This is why we’re currently extending our operations into a two storey unit adjacent to the main factory. The extra space has allowed us to put in three additional production lines, with another brand new line due to be up and running by the end of the month.”
Mr Tyrie was suitably impressed and commented “I’ve seen a fast growing business today, which is great news for the area, creating jobs right in the heart of Chichester. A lot of manufacturing is recovering and thriving in the constituency and this is an example. It’s vital that businesses gets the infrastructure support they need, not just improvements to the A27, but, among other things, better drainage, too.”
