This is a year when national events brought people closer together. I expect that 2012 – Olympics, the Diamond Jubilee and, for a good number of us, the cricket – will be remembered for years to come.
The plain fact is that many of my constituents are having a difficult time as a result of the measures the Government is taking to sort out the economy. Britain has to pay its way and this area is playing its part. But it can mean a tough time for some, as I know from my postbag and surgeries.
Those of us who live here know that Chichester is one of the nicest places to live and work in the country. I will continue to do what I can to keep it that way in 2013. If 2012 has shown us anything, it is that by working together local communities can achieve great things.
I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Andrew Tyrie MP
