This past June, at Prospect Magazine’s annual Think Tank Awards, Neither Just Nor Secure – a report for the Centre for Policy Studies that Andrew co-authored with Anthony Peto QC -won UK Publication of the Year for its examination of the dangers of the Justice and Security Act, particularly its threat to open justice and the restrictions it will place on investigations of government wrongdoing.
Commenting on the award, Andrew said, “I was as delighted as I was surprised to win the award from Prospect Magazine. The Justice and Security Act makes it more difficult to uncover the truth about Britain’s involvement in extraordinary rendition - that is, kidnap and torture. I do not want my country to be involved in such practices: they undermine the values we seek to export.”
Andrew is continuing his work as the Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Extraordinary Rendition, whose purpose is to get to the truth on rendition and Britain’s role and do what it can to ensure that the UK will not be involved in rendition in the future.
